In this interactive Google Slideshow, students will gain a basic understanding and knowledge of various types of knives used in a kitchen, the knife cuts that Chef's use as well as basic knife safety and skills. Students will be asked to type and add photos to show their learning. Food is in every aspect of our lives; including history! In this activity, culinary students can explore the history behind the inaugural luncheons that are served on Inauguration Day! Designed as a Jigsaw activity, students can use the linked article (to Food & Wine Magazine) to read through a section they've been tasked to become the expert on. Then in small groups, students should share out their learnings and teach their peers!
Reflection is apart of every good students practice. For this activity, allow students to reflect on their culinary lab experiences through an app they know well...Snapchat. Students can create a snapchat of their end product, include pictures, font, and their own bitmojis to share their learning. Then have students download their snapchat as a video and upload to this class shared document! Enjoy!
