About the store
Instead of leaving my 4th grade teaching position upon graduating in 2012, I stayed on as the TA through the end of the school year. The school then hired me as a 5th grade teacher, so I was lucky enough to work with the same kids for another year! I've been teaching 5th grade ever since. After teaching every subject (and more) for a few years, we departmentalized. Now I teach ELA and US History and serve as a SIT member and PLC lead.

Experience

Instead of leaving my 4th grade teaching position upon graduating in 2012, I stayed on as the TA through the end of the school year. Teaching style

I prefer hands-on and discovery-based learning. I believe it is so important to know each student on a personal level and implement many strategies to make my classroom a safe and inviting place for all. I am a huge supporter of Restorative Practices, social justice, and authentic learning experiences.

My own education history

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012. I majored in Elementary Education with a focus on Spanish and the Arts.

Additional biographical information

I am an active member of my school's Equity Team, creator of our drama club, and I serve as the 3-5 Social Studies representative for the school.
