About the store
Instead of leaving my 4th grade teaching position upon graduating in 2012, I stayed on as the TA through the end of the school year. The school then hired me as a 5th grade teacher, so I was lucky enough to work with the same kids for another year! I've been teaching 5th grade ever since. After teaching every subject (and more) for a few years, we departmentalized. Now I teach ELA and US History and serve as a SIT member and PLC lead.

This page of math notes matches the NC Mathematics Standard Course of Study for 5th grade. It is great to give students at the end of the year, before EOGs either digitally or as a print-out. Topics that are included on this study guide are multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction of fractions, base ten place value, order of operations (GEMDAS), geometry hierarchy, volume, measurement, ordered pairs, and tables. Experience

Teaching style
I prefer hands-on and discovery-based learning. I believe it is so important to know each student on a personal level and implement many strategies to make my classroom a safe and inviting place for all.
I am a huge supporter of Restorative Practices, social justice, and authentic learning experiences.
My own education history
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012. I majored in Elementary Education with a focus on Spanish and the Arts.

I am an active member of my school's Equity Team, creator of our drama club, and I serve as the 3-5 Social Studies representative for the school.
