Making Language Visible

Understanding the linguistic and cultural backgrounds of your students is vital to ensuring that your classroom is a community which values difference. This profile is easy to use, and slot into your program, allowing a reference point throughout the year of your students' backgrounds, and learning needs. Incorporates the EAL/D learning progression and ESL Scales. This is an editable resource.

This resource can be used by Classroom Teachers and EAL/D Specialist Teachers to track student's progression in learning English. It aligns to the ESL Scales (NSW) to facilitate higher quality differentiation, and also the EAL/D Learning Progression to make reporting to parents and ERN easier. It can be used with the ESL Scale "I can Statements" to help make learning more visible to students, and allow them to take ownership over their learning of the English language.

ESL/EAL/D / ELL/ESOL/TESOL/EAL This is a simple, editable document to assist in planning for targetted teaching of EAL/D student needs. Use this document with the EAL/D Planning, programming assessing and reporting documents, specific for your grade.
