Snack Mix Ratio and Proportion Investigation!
In this investigation students will review 6th grade ratios and proportion standards by exploring the concentrations of 3 ingredients in their cup. They will compare to see whose is more "pretzely", for example, using unit rate, percentages, and like denominators. This project was designed to review the unit in a hands-on and engaging way. 18 years of elementary and middle school math classroom experience.
Teaching style
I love to engage learners in math through modeling, hands on practice and group challenges. If students understand the WHY, want to solve the problem and strive to achieve at a higher level they will become a life long math learner and problem. With the time challenges involved in standards based math education, I create activities that will bring to the content a high concentration of practice and rigor.
