About the store

Experience

I have been teaching for a little over twenty years, and I am still living for and loving those moments that bring smiles to their faces.

Teaching style

I believe in doing whatever it takes, for however long it takes, to reach, stretch and build the confidence of every child, expressing the belief that attitude is everything, and "I can't" does not exist. Mistakes are opportunities and challenges are to be embraced, for both are essential in growing the whole child. Having said all that, I am human and often fail to live up to my expectations, but every day, I determine in my heart to make the most of my moments.

Awards & shining teacher moments

The prompt asked for honors and awards, and I am reluctant to add this information because it could create a false impression. As you read, please keep in mind that I am not all that and a bag of chips. In 2013, I was voted as Teacher of the Year for my campus. I went on to represent my campus at the district level and won the honor of District Teacher of the Year. From there, I went on to represent my district at the regional level. I made it to the top 5 finalists. Now that you know that don't hold it against me.

Additional biographical information

Before dedicating my life to a career in education, I followed a few other career paths, not by choice but out of necessity. I married and gave birth to two children which blessed me tremendously but greatly hindered furthering my education. My husband died the year before I began my career as a teacher. As a single mom, I have fought long and hard to balance both worlds. I learned to value every moment as a mother and as a teacher. Sometimes time was not my friend, and the resources I needed were scarce. I relied on other teachers to help me. Now it is my turn to give back, and TPT is the perfect platform. I am just a few years from retirement and half the time I can't remember where I set glasses down at, but I am going to commit to creating and passing on tools that will help you find the time to create those valuable moments. I wish I could make everything free, but did I mention that I am quickly approaching retirement age and I am a teacher.
