To compare fractions, students will cut and sort if a fraction is less than 1/2, equal to 1/2, or more than 1/2. Students will then use the fraction sort to compare fractions.

Cut out the task cards and display them around the room. Students can go to any task card and draw the area model on their worksheet. They will then decompose the area model based on the directions on the task card.
