Activity with Engage NY Grade 4 Module 6 Lesson 4: Display the 5 task cards around the room. Provide each student with page 1. Allow the students to go around the room to identify the fraction and decimal modeled in the tape diagram. The answer they get will be displayed under the riddle question. Students will record the task card letter above their answer to spell out the answer to the riddle.
This can be completed after Module 4 Lesson 26. Students will complete a puzzle match up where they choose whole divided by a unit fraction VS unit fraction divided by a whole. You can print it on card stock or on different colored paper for future use and organization. Cut along each diagonal keeping the expression on one part and the answer/QR code on the other part. Students will add or subtract fractions with different denominators and match their answer. They can scan the QR code to determine if their answer is correct.
There are 7 questions in this riddle. Students will subtract mixed numbers/fractions with different denominators. Students will not have to rename/borrow/unbundle from the whole in this activity. Provide pages 1-2 for each student. Print 1 set of pages 3-4 (cutting each task card out) and display the questions around the room. Students can begin at any question.
