My teaching style is about being fun and approachable as a person and about providing students with as much interesting content and engaging activities as possible. As a scientist, I have to have order as well. Kids learn quickly to stay in control. If they are out of control, we can't safely DO science.
The most important thing for me when I was a student was my relationship with the teacher. If I liked the teacher, I would do my best for them. Second, I was interested in what I got to DO. I gravitated toward science because it was more about doing and less about hearing. Science was also HARD, and I was attracted to things that required me to try harder than usual.
