I have taught 5th grade, 6th grade, special education in Elementary schools as well as in Jr High schools. Have been writing math curriculum for 14 years and have enjoyed every moment of it.
Students will use their problem solving skills to try and gain enough votes necessary to win the Presidential elections. Students will be given a map of "swing" states. They will use different electorate combinations to try and win the 270 votes necessary. This activity is great fun and helps to explain to students the election process.
Transforming Turtles is a fun way to have students engaged and learning how to use the different transforming techniques of translation, rotation and reflection.
