Solving equations is a skill that has to be mastered for students to perform basic algebraic operations in later years. While it seems so logical to me, my students often struggled with what steps are to be taken first (+, -, x, ÷), even though it is just order of operations…in reverse.
A few years ago, I started using “Equation Estates” to teach this, and the confusion no longer exists. We even had a little fun along the way! I teach JH, and they can TOTALLY relate to this set up!

My students ALWAYS cringe when they hear me say the word “fractions”. But that is not necessary if they can learn to use a 12 x 12 or 15 x 15 multiplication chart to work “Magic”.
In this zipped file you will get a complete lesson for simplifying fractions (one lesson that is in a complete bundle I have listed for sale) by using a completed multiplication chart. It includes the following:
• 12 x 12 multiplication chart for students to complete (and key). • 15 x 15 multiplication chart for s

In this file you are getting a full week’s worth of activities on fraction operations (Simplifying, Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing):
• 12 x 12 multiplication chart for students to complete (and key).
• 15 x 15 multiplication chart for students to complete (and key). This is used for higher grades

This file contains all you need to set up an interactive notebook...except for the actual notebook. I have used interactive notebooks for the past 10 years and cannot imagine teaching without one!
The file contains:
Teacher notes for using, cutting, and gluing in the forms
Ideas for how to have students "buy into" using an interactive notebook
Table of contents page (to last the entire year)
6 and 9 week grade sheets for students to record grade
Teacher hall passes
Sample notebook quiz

Get tired of students walking in an asking a million questions before you even enter the room? If so, this is a great way to let students know if they will be using wireless devices any day of the week!
This file contains a poster and three color coded "traffic lights" for you to change out daily to let students know BEFORE they have to ask. Plus I have included desk templates for you to laminate and attach to student desks to let them know where they are to place the devices while not in use
