These progress monitoring assessments align with Really Great Reading Blast First grade, but work great for other programs too. Each page progressively becomes more challenging and focuses on a different decoding skill. Towards the end, there are less words to decode to give the teacher time to assess each student.

I have been teaching first grade for fifteen years and always enjoy reading the student's creative answers to these writing prompts! They can be used during small group or reading centers time, morning work, or something for early finishers.

Spelling word practice is so important to first graders. These worksheets allow students to trace the word and then write the word three times independently. They can be used for homework or a reading station. I love to put them in a protective sheet, so students can practice them over and over through out the week!
