This helps you assess Power Tide responses efficiently, while at the same time giving great feedback to your students. Examples for each section are provided. My Grade 7 and 8 students have found this form very helpful. You can alter the form to match your grading preference. In Nova Scotia we use a 4,3,2,1 assessment scale. You can easily edit the Google Doc to match yours.
This is a complete package for helping students learn how to write a research essay. Formatted as a student booklet, it takes students step by step through the writing process in a clear and straight forward way. I have included important graphic organizers for narrowing a research topic, brainstorming, and taking research notes. The booklet also includes pages to guide students through writing a first draft of their essay, and a clear example of a research essay with in-text citation

Dear Teacher, Over the past twenty years of teaching middle school, I have found gamification one of the best ways to motivate my students. When students approach learning in a gamified environment, I see their excitement and enjoyment improve dramatically. As part of gamification, I use writing rubrics that give students standard scores, but also XP (experience points). Students can use their experience points for a variety of classroom rewards. I hope you find this rubric fun and useful to you
