Awards & shining teacher moments

I remember a reticent and very shy boy coming in to my Political Science "information session" one night way back in 1995. He had come in to find out about the subject and whether it was something he might want to study at A Level (the pre-College qualifications, here in the UK.) From those shy beginnings, this enthusiastic student blossomed into a fine young man. He did take Political Science. He did obtain an A grade in the subject two years later, and he was that student who went on to take Political Science in, firstly, College in the UK, then College in the US and eventually ended up teaching Political Science himself in a prestigious American College. His correct title is "Doctor" now, but I still prefer to remember that shy 16-year-old and the impact that my classes were to have upon him. Who would have thought?

My own education history

I grew up in a small rural town in Wales in the UK. Decided to branch out when it came to going to College and studied Political Science in a College just outside London. Then lived in Barcelona, Spain for 2 years and experienced a very different culture whilst teaching English. Returned to the UK and got my teaching graduate certificate and then moved to the North of England, where I taught mainly Political Science and English for 20 years. Spent the final 10 years of my career in London, teaching all of the above + Business Studies and Study Skills.
