About the store

Experience

I am going into my sixth year teaching in an inner city school district. I have worked with many students of various abilities to work toward closing the achievement gap. I have taught 7th grade, 8th grade, and now Algebra I to advanced 8th grade students.

Teaching style

I have been AVID trained through different professional developments and attending the Summer Institute. The AVID training has led me to using strategies such as focused note taking in my classroom. I also use data-driven instruction to personalize learning for my students. I work to personalize learning and was a cohort 4 SyraFuse Fellow for the 2019 - 2020 school year.

My own education history

I graduated from Alfred University in 2015 with a BA in Math and a minor in marketing. I had intended to become an actuary, but while working as a staff accountant and preparing for my first actuarial exam I instead applied to a Masters program to become a teacher. I later attended SUNY Empire State College and received my Masters of Arts in Teaching June 2019.

Additional biographical information

I love hippos and you may seem them in my materials every now and then. I also like to feature my rescue dog, Bender. If you would like to help out my classroom and support me in creating more fun materials, check out my Classroom Wishlist on Amazon! https://amzn.to/2GzTqN1
