Overarching concepts in biology.
The lesson requires microscopes and slides, it focuses on identify the difference between prokaryotes and Eukaryotes. The AFL component is a 10 mark hinge question this lead to a differentiated outcome depending on the score. There is an exit ticket at the end.
Lesson allows student to be independent but at the same time provides structure and fits the students needs.
The lesson start by establishing what the student know already about distance time graph. The lesson then moves onto modelling how to calculate speed from several examples on the graph. As an AFL opportunity there is an inbuilt hinge point question, diagnostic of understanding. The outcome of the HPQ directs student to a gold, silver or bronze task all based on the same graph. The students demonstrate their knowledge by drawing their own graph with an extension task if needed. The lesson conclud
The lesson is aimed at early Grade 5,6,7 as a foundation to later progress.
The Do it Now task is a review and identification of forces that should have been learned in previous lessons. The experiment is then demonstrated for the students before the students get the chance to perform and record their own results in a differentiated results table (one just has to have numbers recorded the other as place to work out averages for more mathematically able students. The students are then required t

Over arching concepts in biology.
The lesson is part of a series of lessons that cover topic one of the module.
There is a focus on a creature called Demodex, a parasite that lives in 17% of the populations skin pores. The lesson stresses the differences an advantages and disadvantages of light vs electron microscopes.
The lesson features a hinge question to determine students ability which leads into a Cloze activity for lower ability s
