A great activity for around Christmas and the Holidays! This activity reviews students’ knowledge of the six trig functions (sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, cotangent) around the unit circle in radians, but also allows students to let loose their inner child with some coloring! I always encourage students to try to evaluate without having a unit circle in front of them or even without re-creating a unit circle, but by using reference angles and quadrants. There are 20 problems total.
Students need to know the 3 Pythagorean identities, quotient identities, and reciprocal identities. Students may need to distribute (FOIL), simplify complex fractions, and multiply by conjugate expressions to create difference of squares. There are a total of 12 trig expressions to simplify. An answer key with worked-out solutions is included. For this activity, I cut up the half sheets and post them randomly around my room, allowing students to walk around and work in groups. I give students
This fun activity requires students to practice NEATLY graphing trig functions. Students will graph 6 trig functions (5 sine/cosine and 1 tangent). Students should have an understanding of various transformations: horizontal and vertical translations, vertical reflections, and horizontal and vertical stretches/compressions. Each graph has no more than 3 combined transformations. After students graph each trig function, they write the letter of the function next to the monsters that it went thro
I use this activity after students have learned to graph trig functions, sine, cosine, and tangent. Students need to understand how to graph transformations including reflections, phase shifts (horizontal shifts), amplitude (vertical stretch), and vertical shifts. This activity is best for partners as it encourages team work, reinforces use of vocabulary, and facilitates discussions to further understanding of this topic. If you have access to a laminator, the cards will last a lot longer (I’
This worksheet of 14 trig problems requires students to use basic identities (tan(x)=sin(x)/cos(x)), Pythagorean identities, and reciprocal identities to simplify. Students will also need to use algebra, such as simplifying complex fractions or factoring. After students simplify each expression (or complete the entire worksheet), they match the answers to the corresponding letters to solve the riddle. A complete answer key with worked-out solutions is included. Visit the Math Cat Store to find m
This worksheet of 15 problems requires students to evaluate the basic unit circle values using sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, and cotangent. After students complete each problem (or the entire worksheet), they match the colors to the letters and color in the decoration accordingly, similar to a color-by-numbers worksheet. This is the perfect fun and relaxing review activity for February, especially around Valentine’s Day! An answer key with worked-out solutions is included. Visit the M
This worksheet of 12 trig functions require students to graph sine and cosine with transformations on the amplitude and period, reflections, and phase shifts. When each function is graphed, students find the letter the graph passes through to fill in the riddle’s answer. This is a fun review activity that can be used at any time, but especially in the winter, such as December, January, or February. This activity is appropriate for Precalculus, Algebra 2, or Trigonometry students, and a full ans
This fun activity requires students to practice NEATLY graphing inverse trig functions. Students will graph 8 inverse functions (3 inverse cosine, 3 inverse sine, 2 inverse tangent). Students should have an understanding of various transformations: horizontal and vertical translations, vertical reflections, and horizontal and vertical stretches. Each graph has no more than 2 combined transformations. After students graph each inverse trig function, they write the letter of the function next to

This worksheet is an introduction to the unit circle where students use special right triangles, knowledge about quadrants, and basic symmetry to fill in the angles and coordinates around it. This is more of a discovery-based learning assignment and works well in partners or groups so students can work together. Don’t forget to leave feedback! I read every comment and greatly appreciate it. Follow the Math Cat Store for freebies, worksheets, and activities that are engaging for students and tim

This worksheet of 14 problems requires students to convert degrees to radians and radians to degrees. There are two versions- one version has only standard locations on the unit circle (multiples of 30 or 45 degrees). The other version has angle measures not on the unit circle, including positive and negative angles. After students complete each problem (or the entire worksheet), they match the colors to the letters and color in the decoration accordingly, similar to a color-by-numbers worksheet
