Math Connections

This product includes and in class exploration activity involving taking measurements of logos, as well as inputing data on a spreadsheet to observe the presence of the Golden Ratio in the logos. Students will explore logos found online and input measurements that evidence the Golden Ratio on a projected spreadsheet. Then, students will complete independent projects involving the Golden Ratio as guided.

This exercise guides students through an exploration of theorems involving parallel, perpendicular and transversal lines. The step-wise approach also allows students to become familiar with the functions available on Geogebra TM, an open domain software and fee app. Students will record findings on handout and also produce a hard copies of Geogebra TM sketches. Subsequent projects and exercises will rely on this introductory use of Geogebra TM.
