Experience

With over 20 years of experience teaching math, I’ve had the privilege of guiding thousands of students from confusion to confidence. From foundational skills to advanced problem solving, I specialize in making complex concepts clear, engaging, and meaningful. My passion is creating resources that not only build math skills but also empower students to think critically and persevere through challenges.

Teaching style

My teaching style has centered on clarity, connection, and creativity. I believe that every student can succeed in math when given the right tools and strategies. I break down complex concepts into manageable steps, use real-world connections to make learning meaningful, and encourage a growth mindset in every lesson. My classroom—and my resources—are built to support critical thinking, build confidence, and spark curiosity in every learner.

Awards & shining teacher moments

One of my most rewarding moments as a math teacher came when a student who had always said, 'I’m just not a math person,' finally solved a multi-step equation on her own—and then asked for more. Seeing her light up with pride reminded me why I do this work. Helping students overcome their fear of math and discover their own problem-solving power has been one of the greatest joys of my 26-year teaching journey.

My own education history

I hold a degree in education with a concentration in mathematics, and I’ve dedicated the past 26 years to teaching math across a variety of grade levels. Throughout my career, I’ve continued to grow as both a learner and an educator—attending professional development trainings, leading math instructional teams, and staying current with best practices in math education. My background has equipped me to create meaningful, standards-aligned instruction that meets students where they are and helps them succeed.

Additional biographical information

I’m a veteran math educator with over 26 years of classroom experience, passionate about helping students build confidence and competence in math. I’ve taught a range of grade levels, but my heart is in supporting middle and high school students through key transitions in their math journey. I specialize in creating engaging, standards-aligned resources that make complex concepts more accessible. When I’m not designing math materials or working with students, I enjoy reading, mentoring new teachers, and finding creative ways to bring math to life beyond the textbook. My goal is to empower both teachers and learners with tools that promote critical thinking, perseverance, and joy in mathematics.
