Kinds of Graphs: 18 Mini-Posters
These 18 mini-posters illustrate the various types of graphs studied in all grades: pictograph, line and bar graphs, box and whisker, stem and leaf, circle, histogram, Venn Diagram, matrix, scatter plot, and frequency tables. Each mini-poster contains a list of characteristics, an example, and vocabulary terms in bold face type.

Math Picture Book: Math from A to Z
This picture book activity involves students reviewing math vocabulary terms and using letters of the alphabet to help them select the terms to highlight. For example, "A" might be for angle, "B" for base, "C" for circle, etc. Supplemental activities, alternate activities, and a rubric are included.
3rd - 6th
Basic Operations, Math Test Prep, Vocabulary
Customary Measurement Scavenger Hunt
Students locate 25 different items showcasing customary or standard measurement. Students work independently or in small groups.
Supplemental and optional activities are included so that project can be individualized. Students complete self-evaluation. Teacher evaluation is also included.

Metrics Scavenger Hunt
This project lists 20 items for students to locate, with the items showing metric measurement, from household items to tools. Students also find distances between cities using metrics, as well as lengths, heights and weights of everyday objects. Students can work independently or in groups.
Supplemental and optional activities are listed for modification by grade level. Evaluation is included as well.

Teaching style
I prefer for students to work in pairs. Students have a warm up activity and a review of concepts taught in the unit so far, then are taught a lesson and work in pairs to solve the day's problems. Each student is responsible for a math notebook containing vocabulary, examples, formulas, drawings, definitions. Homework is typically a review and practice assignment to be completed within a couple of days. Students have my home phone number, and can receive tutoring before or after school.
