This printable worksheet is designed for students in grades 3-5 to show them the true value of each digit when you multiply 2 or 3 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. This goes right along with how Common Core teaches multiplication with larger digits. I use this sheet as guided practice with my students to introduce the concept.

Estimate or Exact Answer?

This printable worksheet is designed to help students to recognize when they need to estimate before solving or simply solve and get an exact answer. A lot of children miss the key words in word problems that let them know they need to estimate (round) to find the answer. This is great additional practice or homework for your students. These problems all deal with addition up to 4 digits.

I laminate a set, cut out the cards, and have them write their answers on a sheet of lined paper. Great for transition times, problem of the day, or as a math center.

This lesson is a great lesson to use after you have introduced likelihood to review and practice or to informally assess students. This lesson includes 2 review/re-teach slides and 4 slides of student interactive practice. The questions pop-up one at a time and the answers appear after clicking. My students love this lesson and were disappointed there were not more slides! They were engaged and enjoyed being part of the lesson (and being able to shout out answers!) Please see preview file f

Teaching style

I believe in fun, student-centered learning that keeps students involved and motivated. I am loving and understanding but very consistent, structured, and well-organized.

My own education history

I was a military brat so I went to seven different grade schools in several different states growing up. I attended high school in Indiana. Then I went on to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Eduation with a minor in mathematics. I have since gotten certified to teach middle and high school math. I hold a master's degree in mathematics education from Nova Southeastern University.

Additional biographical information

I wear many hats. I am a wife and mother of 3 girls. I am an artist with my own business in addition to teaching middle school full time (which I love). I also enjoy crafts of all sorts. All of my friends tell me that I am very creative and well-organized. I can organize anything! I also have a bit of a different sense of humor. I believe building relationships and making connections with others is the key to happiness!
