I am going into my 4th year of teaching in the math classroom! I have taught everything in high school math including Tech Math I, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Math I, Math II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Advanced Functions and Modeling.
So it is the end of the year. You're burnt out. The kids are burnt out. But you need to review for the Final Exams/End of Year Testing. Here is a great project for your students that will get them engaged and have them reviewing the material without the class getting bored with the same old examples.
In this project, students have just been hired as the new (Insert Subject Here) Teacher at their school! Now it is their job to teach the rest of the class what they need to know for the end of ye
If you ask most students, they will tell you that they do not do much writing in their math class. This project will change that! Students should be writing in EVERY class. This is just one of the ways students could use writing in math.
This is a project in which students will be doing research and writing biographies about mathematicians. I had my students pick the name of a mathematician out of a hat. I tried to make sure each student in a class got a different mathematician.

This is a FUN project for you Algebra class. This project has students taking what they have learned about graphing linear equations and absolute value equations and turning it into their own personal artwork! It gives students the opportunity to be creative in their math class!
An additional aspect to this project is that not only do the students have to create the picture, but then they also have to write out instructions for someone else to create the picture without looking at it! For examp
This is a test I wrote for my Pre-Calculus class when we were learning about Parametric and Polar Equations. It includes:
-writing vector equations
-writing parametric equations
-graphing parametric equations
-solving parametric word problems
-graphing polar equations
It is completely editable for you to change/add anything you would like.
There is a FUN extra credit problem that my kids loved! It gives them special instructions on one of the polar graphing problems and if they do it correctl

Teaching style
When I first started teaching, I was doing 4-5 different preps with 7 classes a day while also in graduate school. I struggled with the fact that I did not have the time to plan out the "fun" things to make my teaching more interesting. However, now I have more time on my hands and so I am venturing into the world of the Interactive Notebooks! I am very excited to try out this new style and I already feel like this should have been my style all along.
