About the store
A Missouri native, now living in the Mexico, eating tacos on the reg. I taught seventh grade math at an inner-city charter school in Kansas City for 3 years. It was an amazing adventure, and I learned a LOT about dramatic differentiation, the benefits of regular coffee consumption, Common Core, Units by Design, poverty, and cultural competency. In 2015 I decided to act upon my dream to see the world, and I'm now teaching Calculus and Precalculus at an American school in Mexico City, Mexico! My students call me "Miss" and thank me as they leave class every day. I may have died and gone to heaven.

Experience

Teaching style

Interconnected, critical-thinking questions galore, humorous, varied, dramatically differentiated, and CLEAR. I think every student, "gifted" or not, deserves to be pressed to make connections and think critically. They can ALL do it.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Honor Roll las 6 semesters in college. Leading a mindfulness initiative in the Upper School division at ASF.

My own education history

B.S. Mathematics and Teacher Certification - University of Kansas Certified to teach 5-12 Mathematics

Additional biographical information

When I'm not teaching, I'm hanging out with my dog (Peggy), eating tacos, taking pictures of said tacos, posting said pictures of tacos, cooking up yumminess, rocking yoga pants (hopefully ALSO doing yoga), bemoaning the empty pages in my passport, learning something new, playing music, reading, or contemplating the next big thing on the horizon.
