This Thankful Plate handout can be used for young children to reflect on what they are thankful for. Child starts by writing their name on the pie in the center. Then writes words for things they are thankful for either on each food or next to each food around the edge of the plate. Then they can color the foods any way they want. I had one student color theirs with bright unrealistic colors to show how good our food looks in real life (and blue potatoes sounded interesting!). Share a couple
It is hard for young children to understand being caring and considerate of others feelings. This activity asks children to think outside themselves and create a present for another child. It also allows them to feel what it is like when others listen and consider their preferences, so they feel the benefit of being caring. 1. Young children have a hard time understanding what caring and considerate means. This activity is one way to show how we are considerate of the needs of our own mind and body, rather than our wants. Discussion on how caring for ourself is actually being considerate of our needs to grow healthy bodies and minds for our future selves.
Students use this chart after an assessment to reflect on errors before moving on to additional topics. Students are encouraged to use their notes and resources to redo problems and identify their mistakes. If you use it after every assessments, students will also develop better study habits and not skip reviewing difficult topics. They will know that they will need to figure it out eventually even if after the test.

This log gives instructions on how to use the site ixl.com as a tool to prepare for 7th grade. The site does have a fee, but parents can sign up just for the summer as an option to help reduce summer slide. You just give them the resources, they will appreciate it! This log has review of 6th grade, some 7th grade prep work, as well as a few challenges for students to explore.
