Area of Shapes Discovery Activities
This product includes discovery activities for the area of 3 shapes: triangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids. Each activity should be done on separate days. Additional practice beyond the activity is also recommended. Teachers should provide very few hints (if any) to assist students in finding methods to solve for the area of the shapes. Beginning with triangle and moving to parallelogram and trapezoid, students should become aware of the "why" behind the formulas rather than memorizing! The

I have over 7 years of experience ranging from 5th grade through 12th grade, including both tutoring and teaching experience. I also have experience with college-level mathematics courses. My primary area is mathematics, including algebra and geometry.
Teaching style
I like to allow my students to explore what they learn. I want my students to get as much independent practice in as they can. I also give my students opportunities to provide me with their feedback, whether they reflect on my teaching, activities, or their own personal work ethic.
