About the store
I've been an educator for 20 years! I taught math every grade from 2nd-8th for 14 years before coaching teachers and being an administrator. What makes me a great math teacher isn't just the content knowledge, it's breaking down abstract in an enjoyable way.

Algebra I: Quadratics Unit

Quadratics Unit: Quadratics delves into quadratic equations, their structures, and applications. This comprehensive module starts with the standard form of a quadratic equation (^2++=0) and explores methods to solve them, including factoring, completing the square, and employing the quadratic formula. Students learn to graph quadratic functions, identifying key features like the vertex, axis of symmetry, and x-intercepts. Practical applications, such as projectile motion and optimization problem

Algebra I: Statistics Unit

Statistics Unit: Statistics introduces students to the fundamental concepts and tools necessary for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. This unit covers key topics such as measures of central tendency (mean, median, and mode), measures of dispersion (range, variance, and standard deviation), and the construction and interpretation of graphs such as histograms, box plots, and scatter plots and two way frequency tables. Students learn to apply these statistical tools to real-world data,

Algebra I: Number Sense and Dimensional Analysis Mini-Unit

Algebra I Number Sense and Dimensional Analysis Unit: This unit equips students with the skills to convert between units of measurement and solve problems involving different dimensions. Students start by understanding the concept of dimensions (such as length, mass, time, and volume) and the importance of units (e.g., meters, kilograms, seconds, liters). They practice creating and using conversion factors from equivalencies. Students apply dimensional analysis to solve practical and theoretical
Preview of Algebra I: Exponential Relationships Mini-Unit

Algebra I: Exponential Relationships Mini-Unit

Exponential Relationships Unit:Students gain a deep understanding of the properties of exponents and the behavior of exponential functions. This unit begins by solidifying the fundamental exponent rules enabling students to simplify complex exponential expressions efficiently. Next, the unit explores the nature of exponential functions, distinguishing them from linear functions through their rapid growth or decay rates. Students learn how to construct and interpret exponential functions graphica
Preview of Algebra I: Sequences Mini-Unit

Algebra I: Sequences Mini-Unit

Sequences Unit: This unit provides students with a thorough exploration of sequences as ordered lists of numbers following specific rules. This unit focuses on two primary types: arithmeticand geometric sequences. Students learn to identify these sequences, write explicit and recursive formulas, and apply these formulas to find specific terms. This understanding is critical for solving real-world problems involving sequential patterns. The unit emphasizes practical applications highlighting the

Algebra I: Factoring Mini-Unit

Factoring Unit: This unit introduces students to various factoring techniques essential for simplifying polynomials and solving algebraic equations effectively. Starting with the greatest common factor (GCF), students learn how to identify and extract the GCF from polynomials, setting the stage for more complex factorization methods. Attention shifts to factoring trinomials and special cases, such as perfect square trinomials and the difference of squares, and factoring by grouping. PDF is hyper

Algebra I: Function Families Mini-Unit

Function Families Unit: This unit introduces students to various types of functions, each representing a unique family with distinct characteristics and behaviors. This unit covers quadratic, exponential, square root and absolute value functions, exploring their forms, properties, and graphs. Students learn to identify and represent these functions algebraically and graphically, understanding their applications in real-world contexts. Emphasis is placed on analyzing how changes in parameters aff

Experience

I've been an educator for 20 years! I taught math every grade from 2nd-8th for 14 years before coaching teachers and being an administrator. What makes me a great math teacher isn't just the content knowledge, it's breaking down abstract in an enjoyable way.

Teaching style

In my classroom I'm more progressive in my approach. I love rich problems. There are multiple ways to represent a problem and multiple solutions. In video I do think being explicit and direct is more helpful for students so I also have workshop model lessons.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Nominated for 2013 Big Apple Award New York City Department of Eduction

My own education history

MA in Education, Bank Street MA in Mathematics/Leadership, Bank Street Certified Teacher Certified Gifted and Talented

Additional biographical information

I love creating curriculum and videos for kids, families and teachers. I really believe anyone can be a Math Marvel, we all have this ability in us. Teaching math is a true gift. Check out my YouTube Channel for videos of my teaching lessons. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCivpePccEA-3yppDpHElcLw
