I love for my students to work together - in partners or in groups. Sometimes they learn the same material much better from a peer than from a teacher. My works allow students to actively engage with another, but for those who like to work on their own, the pieces I create are easily available for those students as well.
"When am I ever going to need this?" Sound familiar? I like to make math applicable to the real-world but when I can't always do that, I try to take a creative approach to many of my projects that students don't necessarily expect to see in a typical (old-school) math classroom, and they love it!
