Linear Inequalities: Matching - a Cut and Paste Activity

Use this cut and paste activity as preview, review, and anywhere in between in your lessons with linear inequalities! Students are given 12 linear inequalities and their matching graphs (including where y is alone and where steps are needed to isolate the y or using intercepts) to cut and paste together. This activity works wonderfully for differentiation (have some students complete using only intercepts to find the correct graphs, while others transform the inequalities to slope-intercept for

Systems of Linear Equations: Test

Here is an 8-question systems of equations test for your students in Algebra 1 or Algebra 2. This test for solving systems of linear equations with two variables is set up for the problems to be solved using the method of a student's choice. I allow my students to solve using the method of their choice (substitution, elimination, or graphing) so there is plenty of space (and a graph) for all 6 of the regular problems. Some systems of equations are set up to solve using substitution, elimination

Experience

Teaching style

I love for my students to work together - in partners or in groups. Sometimes they learn the same material much better from a peer than from a teacher. My works allow students to actively engage with another, but for those who like to work on their own, the pieces I create are easily available for those students as well. "When am I ever going to need this?" Sound familiar? I like to make math applicable to the real-world but when I can't always do that, I try to take a creative approach to many of my projects that students don't necessarily expect to see in a typical (old-school) math classroom, and they love it!

Awards & shining teacher moments

Teaching my amazing students is an honor in itself - who needs an official award for that?!

My own education history

I've now completed my Master's in Curriculum and Teaching, and I hold a Bachelor's in Mathematics with a focus in Secondary and Middle Education. I'm certified in MA to teach math to grades 5-12.
