I have been teaching for over 21 years. I have taught from 2nd to 5th grade math and reading. I am always in search for new activities and ways to engage my students. I love to create files, data sheets and slides.
This is an activity to explore area, they have to use 1 inch tiles to figure out area. There is also an activity to find perimeter using a ruler. Students practice on their own first. After exploring and discussing area and perimeter, they practice what they learned.
This is a data tracker for common assessments for each student. It has space so you can record when you work with a student. It has the TEKS for 3rd grade math so they can see the progress. The READINESS standards are in bold so you can tell the difference. I put one in each student folder, makes it easy for me when I work in small groups or one on one.
As a fourth grade teacher I needed something my students can use as a reference and also as a quick study guide. This covers almost all the concepts a fourth grader will learn all year long. Students can reference this file any time they need it and it has helped reduce the time I spend trying to reteach or remind students certain concepts.
I use this multiplication sheet to sign as the students learn each time table. The math bingo I use to reinforce finding the unknown and word problems. The Math Facts I use to have my student practice but also keep them active and they really love it.
Students practice finding the unknown in multiplication and division equations. They get a chance to explore first. After they explore, they practice and explain their thinking.
This 2 page worksheet is for practice with fractions on a number line. They have an open number line and the students use it to find a point showing the fraction. I have students use fraction strips to justify their solution.
I use this a couple of times a week using dry erase pockets or sheet protectors. Each students has their own number of the day. They practice some of the basic concepts in math as well as their writing like a spiral review.

Teaching style
I give a chance for students to explore first to build the experiences needed to learn the vocabulary. I introduce the vocabulary to make the connections to the activity. I follow by giving students more practice and work in small groups.
