Area of Polygons Art Project

This activity allows students to use some creativity to create and find the area of a polygon made of familiar shapes. Students will need to be able to calcuate the area of squares, rectangles, triangles, and trapezoids to complete this activity. Feel free to edit this document as you see fit. Hopefully your students will enjoy using their creative minds to design some very interesting polygons. Enjoy!

This activity focuses on being able to calculate the volume of cones, cylinders, and spheres. It is set up in a story format that includes reading, answering questions, and some writing in the form of adding to and summarizing the story. There are other math components used in this activity that would be good for 8-10th grade students to review. This document can be modified to fit your specific needs.

I love to involve my students in the lessons I teach. I want them to use critical thinking skills to solve any type of problem I present them with. I love to ask how students solved a problem or why they approached it the way they did. I want them to grow to love math as much as I do.
