An LED ( Light Emitting Diode ) is an ubiquitous device and is very simple. It's operation can seem mysterious but can be understood by knowing the components. This diagram clearly labels each of the components and gives some simple memory aides for understanding.

This is a distance learning, google doc friendly way to have students design and build a Rube Goldberg device at home during the quarantine.  It is based on the new Bar of Soap Rube Goldberg Video Challenge recently released by rubegoldberg.com. The project is broken down into steps where students are required to complete a short journal entry every 2 days with their progress.
