Comparing Algebra Problems with Examples and Solutions
Students struggle with comparing their work to an example. This activity helps them learn to dig into solutions and compare them - seeing where there are commonalities and where there are differences. (Note, they don't have to know anything about algebra to do this - it's merely a comparing exercise.) Give it a try and let me know how it can improve. I'm deploying this today! ~Bon

Teaching style
Having struggled through strange and interesting bits of math myself, and having tutored my best friends in math through high school and college, I have a teaching style that works very well with students who are less than confident in their abilities. What I've always told them is this: "I'm not better in math than you are, I'm just more confident."
