Over the course of 8 years in the classroom, I taught Pre-Algebra (7 years), 5th grade math (1 year), Honors Pre-Calculus (1 year) and Algebra (summer school). I have worked with LearnZillion as both a DreamTeam member to create videos on ratios and as a math content coach to supervise the creation of videos (6 - 8) and task lessons (6-8). My passion is creating engaging, flexible materials that teachers can use in multiple ways to help students practice skills, enhance understanding, and explore new concepts.

Teaching style

My teaching style started as a mirror of my own education, which was primarily I do - we do - you do. Over the years, I grew to embrace inquiry tasks as a way to expand my students' critical thinking and mathematical problem solving. I've experimented with a flipped classroom set up to target basic math skills and stations to differentiate instruction. I love having discussions with students about various ways to approach a problem and a guiding question I ask my students daily is "what mistakes did you make that we can learn from?"

My own education history

M.Ed - Curriculum and Instruction in Secondary Mathematics from George Mason University BA - English from the College of William and Mary
