I use this 4 day mini unit to start off the year and it never disappoints students. You are using math in a real life application and its not boring. Students will need to use all four operations & discuss divisibility. The four lessons include UPC(universal product code) numbers, ISBN (international standard book number) numbers, validating credit card numbers and working with VIN (vehicle identification numbers). There are a variety of questions that differentiate from easy to harder in the
This works just like BINGO only its called MATHO. Students scatter the given answers on their game board. Then you call out random problems from the top of the page. They copy them down on a separate sheet of paper and solve them. Then they shade in the space that has the answer. These are all one-step equations. I have used this several times and it is a great activity. To win, they have to shade in their game board to match one of the letters on the bottom of the MATHO page.

I made this puzzle to work on before holiday break. It has 21 inequality problems that start with one step and move on to multiple steps. A few have fractions and decimals too. Students need to shade in ALL the boxes that have the correct answer to complete the puzzle. I included a lot of the correct answers with the signs turned around to make it extra challenging. My kids love doing this every year.
Perform the indicated operations. Write your answer in lowest terms or as a mixed number in simplest form. Follow the path of your answers on the other side to save the turkey from inevitable doom at the hands of the pilgrims. The turkey’s life depends on YOU! Color your maze and pictures if you are done early for extra credit. Students really enjoy this one. Hint: have students do all the odd problems first, then the evens to make the path.
