Experience

I recently completed my 17th year of teaching & have greatly enjoyed my 6 years in a quickly growing school district in north Texas! Throughout the years I have taught Pre-K through 5th grades. I am so excited to have my third year as an Elementary Math Specialist under my belt, as it has been a goal of mine for many years.

Teaching style

I work in a math specialty classroom for Kindergarten through 5th grade, helping to intervene with students who are struggling the most. I provide individualized instruction to meet them at their level in differentiated small groups. I work to meet their needs not only through researched and proven instructional practices, but with the utilization of flexible and resourceful supplies. It is important to make learning more engaging with hands-on activities, such as manipulating counting materials, games, and visuals that relate our learning to real-life for our little learners! At any given time you can find us singing and dancing along with math songs, building and creating with math manipulatives, learning through games, and so much more!

My own education history

I am a class of 2000 graduate from a small town in North Texas. I went on to graduate with my Bachelor's degree in 2004 from Texas A&M University Commerce, and completed my Master's degree in 2019 from University of Texas Arlington in Curriculum and Instruction. I enjoy being a lifelong learner.

Additional biographical information

One of the biggest blessings in my life has been being a mom to my two children! I am married and have a son and daughter who are now almost grown. We enjoy camping, kayaking, going to the movies, bowling, and more!
