Fourth year high school math teacher (Geometry and Algebra II). I also have six years of tutoring experience in math and other subject areas. I work primarily with students who have not been successful in other schools and often require remediation; bright kids with poor experiences in math.
Factoring Tic-Tac-Toe is an activity for grades 8-12.
Students practice factoring quadratic and cubic functions with eight different techniques by playing tic-tac-toe. Students factor given expressions and find the solution in the tic-tac-toe grid. Each student places an x or an o in the corresponding solution. The first student to get three in a row wins!
Included are:
Eight different tic-tac-toe activities covering the following factoring techniques:

Factoring Polynomials Using Synthetic Division Guided Notes
These guided notes show students how to use synthetic division and possible rational zeros to find the complete factorization of a polynomial. There are seven pages of notes, three where the teacher shows some examples, and four with additional examples for students to try. These guided notes would be an excellent addition to any notes on synthetic division, factoring polynomials, or possible rational zeros.

Experience
Fourth year high school math teacher (Geometry and Algebra II). I also have six years of tutoring experience in math and other subject areas. I work primarily with students who have not been successful in other schools and often require remediation; bright kids with poor experiences in math.
Teaching style
I encourage students to work cooperatively. A quiet classroom is not what you'll see with me. Students are moving, discussing, and helping each other learn and understand.
Awards & shining teacher moments
The greatest honor I have received is when a student comes back and tells me that what I taught them has helped them reach their goals after graduation.
My own education history
M.Ed. in Secondary Education,
B.A. in Mathematics,
B.S. in Psychology. All degrees from ASU.
Additional biographical information
My goal is to help teachers make math beautiful, interesting, and fun for their students. Each day I strive to work towards this goal in my classroom and I want to help others do the same!
