Square Bear is a fairytale of polygons and closed curves. This lesson plan creates new characters for the story. Children construct the characters from triangles cut from regular polygons: squares; rectangles; pentagons; hexagons. Then they analyze the shapes used in the characters other children have created and write stories for the characters.
