Students will travel around the room to solve various quadratic equations by completing the square. Good way to review before a quiz or just to reinforce completing the square and solving quadratics practice. More fun for students that sitting in their seats just doing a worksheet with completing the square. This could certainly be adjusted for use with the quadratic formula as well.

Students will use online graphing software, Desmos Graphing Calculator, to discover what the discriminant tells us about a given quadratic equation. This activity allows students to conclude that the discriminant will provide information about how many x-intercepts (solutions) the quadratic equation has by working through and graphing various quadratic functions. This is a great way for students to come up with why the discriminant is so useful without simply telling them the rule. Common core

Join Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner as they use right triangle trigonometry to battle Captain Norrington's ships and rescue Elizabeth! Students will be required to work through various right triangle trig problems. All of the problems are themed around a ship, submarine, and Pirates of the Caribbean story lines.
