Experience

I am an experienced English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher working in a large urban school district in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Over the years, I have worked with a diverse range of students, including Long-Term English Learners (LTELs) and newcomers, in both secondary and adult education settings. I specialize in designing targeted interventions, creating culturally responsive learning environments, and supporting students in achieving language proficiency and academic success. My work often involves integrating technology, leveraging data-driven instruction, and collaborating with families and community partners to ensure equitable learning opportunities.

Teaching style

My teaching philosophy centers on student engagement, clarity, and inclusivity. I prioritize active learning and scaffolded instruction to meet the needs of multilingual learners while promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I integrate a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based learning, language-focused activities, and real-world applications, to help students build both language proficiency and academic confidence. I aim to create a classroom culture where students feel supported, empowered, and motivated to succeed.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Throughout my career, I have celebrated numerous “lightbulb” moments with students as they progress in their language skills and academic understanding. Highlights include designing intervention pathways that have successfully helped English Language Learners exceed expectations on standardized assessments, implementing multilingual programs that foster student engagement, and receiving recognition from colleagues and administrators for innovative curriculum design. My proudest moments always involve seeing students develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning.

My own education history

I recently finished a Master’s in Education at the University of Oklahoma and am working toward principal certification. My academic background combines educational theory, ESL methodology, and practical experience in diverse learning environments, providing me with a strong foundation to develop high-quality instructional resources.

Additional biographical information

Outside the classroom, I enjoy exploring educational technology, engaging with family activities, and pursuing creative hobbies. I am passionate about soccer and ballet, often supporting my children in their practices, and I enjoy swimming as a way to stay active. I also share my love for gaming and educational content on my Twitch channel, where I combine my interests in strategy games, community building, and interactive learning experiences.
