Matt Scheets

This lessons gives students an introduction to the rate of change of quadratic functions by using visual patterns and a two tasks (building a paver patio and surrounding a garden with fencing). Student create rate of change tables and graph the results to discover the graph of a quadratic function.

This packet/handout allows students plenty of room to take notes and contains a do-now, step-by-step instructions for simplifying radicals, class examples for guided practice, and a HW worksheet with answer key.
