Matthews helpers

This is my 39th year of teaching. I taught first grade for 15 years then became a Talented and Gifted Teacher k-4. I also teach governor school in the summer for 4th and 5th graders. I am now the summer governor school director.

I teach guided reading to 4th graders but incorporate higher thinking skills since they are our gifted.

I had many awards playing the Alto Saxophone in High School. I was a Success for All graduate to teach teachers the method. I have been rewarded four times for donorchoose.org -books, cameras and a document camera.

BS at Longwood University MA at George Washington University endorsed in Gifted Education spalding Phonics instructor I have created the yearbook for 10 years for our school of over 1000 students. No one else has done it. I teach an after school enrichment class of photography

I have been married for 28 years. We have no children but many 4 legged children. I take care of elder relatives in my home. I am a deacon at our church where I play the handbells. I volunteer for the local Humane Society by taking care of the many cats. I give blood every time I can and I am past 3 gallons.
