Coordinate Graphing/Plane Sink the Ships Game/Activity

Created by
Matt's Math
This is a game for students learning how to graph and plot points in a 4 quadrant system. You can print it out and use it like the game "Battleship." You fold the paper in half, and play with a partner. They will learn how to graph and plot points, what the different axes are, and quadrants. Rules of the game are similar to Battleship, except I usually have a student go again if they hit their enemy's ship.

About the store

Experience

This is my 4th year teaching math at the middle school level. I am creative, artistic and love creating my own lessons to help other teachers communicate math in a unique and relevant way.

Teaching style

I use a lot of technology and art in my classroom, to make math more engaging and to help it make more sense to students.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was awarded a grant this year by the Karl Friedman Foundation to purchase a class set of iPads to use every day with my students. It will be an exciting opportunity to provide this technology to my students.

My own education history

Bachelors of Science in Mathematics at Texas Christian University Masters of Curriculum and Instruction, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs
