About the store
I've spent 26 years as an English teacher, growing my skills with a B.A. in English Literature and a Master's in Educational Leadership. My teaching journey has taken me everywhere—from a busy Title I urban high school to the top-rated magnet school in the state. I've taught all phases of English, grades 6 through 12. Currently, I teach AP English Literature and Composition and Enriched English IV. I also teach Journalism and work with our school's work-based learning initiative. We recently moved to a 4x4 block, so I am navigating that and hopefully will be able to share new resources as I rethink what I have done in the past.

This is a routine students do at the end of each novel. By finding pictures, students make memory aids for themselves. This is also a good way to get in some assertion/evidence practice in without writing an entire essay. You could then have them build a full essay using a few of the symbols. Use Kami or something similar for students to complete electronically.

Teaching style

Is "old-school" an option? My desks are in rows, and I believe in reading entire novels and writing complete essays. I believe in modeling my thinking for students, questioning to guide them through intricate texts, and that annotation doesn't have to look the same for everyone.
