Number Line Rounding to the Nearest Ten

These plain and clear questions use a large, labeled number line and basic vocabulary. The cards' plain appearance may appeal to older students who don't want to be seen doing "cute" remedial work by peers. All 20 questions ask students to round to the nearest ten.

Rounding to the Nearest Ten with Rounding Hills

I teach my students with and without disabilities to use rounding hills. This doesn't work for every teacher and student, but I've had great success with it. These cards can be put on a ring as a center, printed as worksheets, used for Scoot... Plenty of ways to use it. An answer sheet is included. The activity involves some scaffolding- the last eight of the 20 cards require students to identify which tens the number being rounding goes between.

Additional biographical information

It is important to note that my materials aren't cute or decorative. I've found that when students are working on materials for younger grades than their own, they want them to be plain enough to blend into the background of classwork. There's no embarrassment when you are doing second grade work as a fifth grader when the work looks more grown up.
