About the store

Experience

I have been a high school special education teacher for over 10 years. I work with students with disabilities that range from moderate to severe. I teach Science, Social Studies, English, Math and Daily Living Skills classes. My main focus is incorporating life skills into every lesson.

Teaching style

I prefer to make my own materials! Students learn best by DOING and by being active participants in each lesson. My lessons are hands-on, visual, and functionally fun! I believe teaching daily living skills is the most vital subject for my students to learn and practice. Learning daily living skills will decrease their dependence on others and improve their quality of life. Daily living skills that I focus on include: personal needs (dressing, eating, hygiene, grooming, social and toileting), domestic needs (cooking, cleaning), community needs (time management, money management, job skills, using transportation and getting around the community).
