Are yur students having a hard time subtracting with regrouping? Here is a strategy I learnned to help my students with regrouping. This is the form I give to my students to help parents with the new strategy. Just print 2 on a page.
Student will practice working with money using their slates and coins. This powerpoint gives several chances to woth with their coins and writing answers on their slates.
Before teaching your students about money, have them research information about the coins. Assign small groups a different coin/dollar. Have them become an expert about their coin/dollar. Then, have them share their new knowledge to the class. This is a fun way to get kids interested about money.
