Experience
I have taught first, third, and fourth grade. I currently teach ELA and Social Studies in 4th grade.
Teaching style
I follow the workshop model with a heavy emphasis on childrens literature. I believe in differentiating instruction through assessments, guided reading, and individual conferencing.
My own education history
I have had many experiences that have allowed me to grow as an educator. I have attended the Georgia Conference for Reading and Writing for the past three years. I have given many presentations to the faculty sharing my ideas about Reader’s Workshop and my methods connecting to it . I also mentor new teachers. I have taken many roles in my school including shared decision committee, leadership committee, and PTA board. My classroom also serves as the Literacy Model Classroom for intermediate grades in my school.
Additional biographical information
I am currently writing a book that uses childrens literature to prepare students for standardized reading tests.
