Meredith O'Neill

I have 30 years of experience teaching middle and high school English. I teach a variety of standard literature and writing courses, and I also teach at-risk learners and honors students. I love to keep my courses fresh and exciting with new and interesting books, projects, lessons, and parties. My teaching style centers on high levels of student engagement and challenging but fair material. I feel most successful when my students' curiosities are stimulated and when they feel appreciated and valued in the classroom.

I graduated from SIU-Carbondale in 1992 with a degree in English Education. I have taken graduate coursework in Literature at SIU-E, Washington University, and Governor's State University.

Not only am I a teacher, but I'm also a wife, and a mother of two. I am a part-time Pilates instructor and devoted tennis enthusiast.
