My first three years of teaching were spent at a private school. Due to small class sizes and a freedom to experiment with different teaching styles, I was able to develop my own creative approach to lessons and dabble in vertical alignment. During those three years I taught 8th-12th grade, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Foundations in Personal Finance, and some math electives. I usually taught at least 5 different subjects a day and absolutely loved it. The following two years were at a public, Title I charter school. Different as could be from my first three years, but still loved it. I taught Algebra II only, and while teaching the same thing all day wasn't as interesting (to me) as teaching 5 subjects, I enjoyed the opportunity to differentiate each lesson as much as possible.
