Election 2016: Path to the Presidency PBL
In this Social Studies (and Math) group project, students will be challenged to map out a path to the presidency (using the latest polls and projections) for the candidate they feel will be the next U.S. President. Students will use the Internet to analyze state-by-state polls to make a prediction on the Election Day results. My students are working on this project this week and they love its "real world" application. My colleagues have told me that every four years my students will look back

For the past eight summers, I have helped bring teachers and students to the Dominican Republic as part of "Friends Beyond Borders." During these social justice expeditions the teachers toured the Haitian border, visited an HIV/AIDS orphanage, spoke with civil rights activist Sonia Pierre, and heard firsthand stories from the legendary Dede Mirabal from the famous novel, "In the Time of the Butterflies."
